CITY PURCHASES PROPERTY FOR FUTURE WWTP EXPANSION

There seems to be some confusion regarding a property that the City recently purchased for future expansion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP); hopefully, the following information will address any questions or concerns:

Taking an excerpt from the City Council meeting minutes from December 5, 2017, ‘the City was interested in purchasing a property south of the WWTP to allow for future expansion.’  As the current owner of the property was not interested in sub-dividing prior to the sale, the initial purchase was to be for approximately 20 acres that included a home and out-buildings.  The City’s intentions were to retain the approximate 8 acres immediately adjacent to the WWTP, and subdivide the home, shops and remaining property for resale.

On January 3, 2018, the City purchased the property for approximately $795,000.  Harper-Leavitt Engineering (HLE) is currently working on the Legal description for the parcel that will be subdivided.  Once that is completed, the City will proceed to resell.
