SETTING UP A UTILITY ACCOUNT

New customers are required to fill out a New Customer Form that is located below.  A $50.00 deposit is required to set up a new account.  The deposit will be refunded after a year if your account is kept current on payments.  If you move within a year, the deposit is refunded to your final bill.  If you move within the city limits where services are provided, your deposit will be transferred to your new account.  If there is a credit balance on your account at the time of closing, it will be refunded to you.  Please be sure to give us your forwarding address when you cancel your account.

Utility Bill:

Your City bill inludes Water (WA), Sewer (SW), and Gargabe (GB).  Bills are mailed out on the first business day of each month.  The charges are for the previous month's service.  You may have additional charges for extra pick-ups or extra cans on garbage.  There is also a $10.00 charge for on/off repair requests.

Late Fee:

A late fee of $5.00 will be charged on accounts that are not paid by the last business day of the current month.

Garbage:

Please make sure your garbage is out before 7:00 a.m. for residential cans and 5:00 a.m. for commercial cans.  Cans that have debris protruding out of the lid will not be picked up because it may cause damage to the sanitation truck, or be spilled on teh ground before it makes it up and over into the truck.

The drivers are not allowed to get out of the truck, so if there is garbage next to your can, it will not be picked up.  If you need an extra pick up, please call City Hall and schedule them before 10:00 a.m.  If you call after this time, it will be picked up the next day. There is a charge for extra pick-ups, please iniquire at the time of your call for the rate on your can size.

Metered Water:

Your bill will show a previous meter reading, a current meter reading and the usage for water.  If you add two zero's to the usage column, that will be the exact amount of gallons used.  Example: If your usage says 230, add two zero's and you come to a total of 23,000.  You have used 23,000 gallons of water.

During the winter, we do not read meters unless you are a customer that had more than 20,000 gallons used on your last reading in November.  For customers that are not read, you will be billed only the minimum billing each month and when we do read again in the spring, if you used any extra water during the winter months, it will be billed at that time.

Level Pay:

If you have had service for one year with the City and have not been delinquent or shut-off during that year, you may request level pay.  This is projected from your last years' usage.  We will total the last years billed amount and divide it by twelve.  This amount is what you will be required to pay each month so that there is no variation in your payment amount.  During the winter months you should incur a credit balance that will be used up during the summer months that have higher usage.  These accounts are evaluated semi-annually and your payment amount may be adjusted at any time to ensure your account is on track and you are not falling behind or gaining a large credit balance that will not be used up within the year.

Circuit Breaker:

If you qualify for the circuit breaker program on your property taxes at the courthouse, bring us the approved application and we will copy it for our records and give you a reduction of 30% on your sewer and garbage charges.  You will not be required to pay a minimum rate for water.  Instead, you will be billed a standard rate for each thousand gallons measured.  You must re-apply with the County Assessors Office at the courthouse each year, and you must also bring in your approved application each year in order to continue receiving the discount.
