Restaurants/Food Service Establishments (FSE)

The City of Blackfoot has a variety of restaurants to choose from. While the food differs, the responsibility remains the same. Each restaurant must have an operational Grease Removal System (GRS). The two main types of GRS’s are grease traps and grease interceptors. These devices separate the solids, oils, and greases that are found when discharging from food preparation and cleanup. If these devices are not maintained properly, your pipes and the City’s pipes suffer. Grease traps must be cleaned once a week, with a signed record. Grease interceptors must be cleaned and pumped empty once every three months, with receipt of cleaning stored for three years on premises. FSE’s that cause a blockage of sewer pipes will be liable for any damages.
