Evidence and Records

The Evidence and Records Department is responsible for maintaining and securing all records relating to active and closed cases.  In addition, this Department is responsible for preserving and securing all evidence, found property and prisoner property for court presentation or until it can be returned to the owner or legally destroyed.  The Department is operated jointly by the Blackfoot Police Department and the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office.

BEFORE VISITING THE EVIDENCE and RECORDS DEPARTMENT
Property will not be released without proper authorization; please contact the Records/Evidence Clerk to make arrangements to retrieve your property.

ITEMS TO BRING WITH YOU
You must have valid government-issued photo identification and your report number as well as any paperwork that was sent to you (notification letter).

If you do not know the report number associated with your property, you may contact the Records/Evidence Clerk for assistance.

HAVING ANOTHER PERSON RETRIEVE YOUR PROPERTY
If you are having someone else pick up your property, you must complete the release below, have it notarized, and have your designee present it when retrieving your property.
